Q2Q Ferry

Located right in the heart of the Quay is the Q2Q Ferry that connects Queensborough and the Quay. It was relatively painless to jump on the little commuter boat with no planning and for a nominal fee. For $10 return trip, you can venture over to Queensborough and land right in Port Royal. From there there’s a nice and easy riverfront walk perfect for a casual weekend stroll. We took our kid with us and was able to kill a couple hours with an exciting adventure to go on a ‘real boat’. It runs every 30 mins to/from the Komagata Maru Ferry Docks.

The boat is serviced by the City of New Westminster as a service to the residents of New West. Fun fact, the boat used to be the water taxi between Vancouver and Bowen Island before it was discontinued.

Once on the boat, the views of the Quay, Pattullo Bridge, the Skytrain Bridge, and the Fraser River were great. It was awesome to see New West from that perspective and is not something you see everyday. I highly recommend a ride on the Q2Q if you’re looking for something different to do on a weekend.
