Family Friendly Outdoor Pools in New West

Finding a plays to cool off with a toddler or kid can be tricky! There are lots of hurdles to overcome like packing clothes and snacks and choosing the best option for everyone to enjoy. Here’s a short list of family friendly outdoor pools to enjoy!

Hume Park

This pool is located at Hume Park and is perfect for cooling off in the summer! It is an outdoor pool with various depths great for toddlers and up. It’s a little small but gets full sun for most of the day so it’s a great place to get a tan and cool off! As a bonus, Hume park opens its spray park in the summer with fun sprinklers and showers to run around in. There’s lots of open grass to throw a blanket and have a snack too! Parking is a little limited and the in/out roads can get congested at peak times so plan accordingly.

Grimston Park

Grimston outdoor wading pool is great for the very young and up. Since the deepest part is only about 2 ft deep, its an easy, low stress visit for parents who don’t want to get wet. The city provides toys as well which is a nice convenience. The staff there are very nice and mainly to monitor the water levels throughout the day; not necessarily lifeguard. They drain it at everyday at 5:30 pm and it is next to a wood structure playground and sandbox. Parking is also limited to street parking. Be prepared for a fun day for the kiddos!

Moody Park

Another pool great for toddlers and up is Moody Park outdoor pool. It is centrally located and easily accessible. With a shallow end and a wading pool its great for toddlers there. There is also a deep end that is often busy with lessons and more suited for teenagers making a ruckus. Lots of parking all around the park on 10th street, 7th ave, by and the ball park. Lots of grass to spread out and toss the disc or kick the ball after every has had their popsicles and fill of the pool.

Queens Spray Park

Not technically a pool but another great spot for kids to cool down is the Queens Park Spray Park. There are lots of fun sprinklers, showers, and streamers to run through and it gets quite busy in the summer making it easy for kids to make friends and core memories! There is a washroom and concession located right next to the spray park making it extra easy on parents.
